YMCA Ireland
YMCA International Cork YMCA has been participating in the European Voluntary Service Programme since its inception.
The programme allows young people aged 18-25 to spend up to 12 months on placement in a community or voluntary organisation in another EU member state.
To date Cork YMCA has hosted volunteers from Finland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark, Germany and Georgia.

Apart from the YMCA network, Volunteers for Europe, Cork YMCA is also part of a network based on twinned cities. Our most active links to date are with Cologne and Rotterdam.
Seven young people from Cork YMCA have also been hosted abroad in the UK, France and the Netherlands.

Volunteer Tasks
Volunteers help in a variety of ways with the work of Cork YMCA. It is however, fundamental to our approach that volunteers help with real tasks and learn some of the skills of youth work. Mostly they assist with the Heart & Soul programme, and more recently with the Youth Information Centre and on Signposts.
